Help the Elderly
– a service dedicated to help Indian & Australian elderly
We can communicate in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu & Bengali
Having done hard work all their lives, our elderly rightfully expect to have some good years in the latter part of their lives when they can enjoy a good rapport with their children, enjoy the company of their grand children and great grandchildren before finally bidding farewell to this world. Sadly for many, it does not quite work that way. The ‘years they had stowed away to enjoy’, become difficult to cope. That should never be the case.
It is just a matter of deciding the moment...

Why do elderly suffer in silence?
Because often, the perpetrators are their own.
Our elderly live in situations where they trust someone else for their well-being when the abuse starts. Without fail, that someone in the position of trust is one of their own which makes it difficult for them to stop the abuse from taking place. According to a research done in India, in 71% percent of cases financial and property interests are involved. Soon as the elderly succumb to the pressure and sign off, maltreatment starts. Migration of their children to other countries where the elderly follow them generally makes it even more complicated. In addition to taking financial advantage of the elderly, there are numerous cases of emotional / psychological abuse, physically or social abuse where elderly are used as ‘free or unpaid servants’.
Many elderly soon resign to their fate and suffer in silence. At times, there are people outside those settings – who know of this abuse but choose to keep silent. That is simply unacceptable.
Humans in need..
Elderly abuse is not just confined to gender or geography. It happens everywhere, to everyone. Let us all unite against it...
Like everyone else, our elderly have a right to feel safe and comfortable at all times, and live a life of dignity and respect.
Thus, if you are an elderly suffering any kind of abuse, or know someone who is, get in touch with us as soon as possible to stop the abuse and suffering.
